Kamberg Nature Reserve 2300ha

The Drakensberg World Heritage Park (by Website Designers)

This small reserve is renowned for its brown and rainbow trout fishing (there is also a trout hatchery here) in the several dams and in the Mooi River. There are many pleasant walks through river gullies, past waterfalls and up onto the higher grasslands from where there are panoramic views of Giant's Castle.

There is also a unique 1½km wheelchair walk. One of the finest specimens of Bushman paintings may be found in this reserve in Game's Pass Cave with representations of polychrome eland, Bantu and Bushmen. Visits must be arranged beforehand and visitors are accompanied by a game guard. Nearby, there are fossilized dinosaur footprints.

Animals include reedbuck, wildebeest, eland, hartebeest and oribi.

There are five three bedded huts and a six bed cottage that are fully equipped and serviced.

Contact KwaZulu Wildlife or the camp at 033 2637251 for camping enquiries.
