Durban Metro Electricity is a service unit of the Durban Metropolitan Council. The supply area extends from Tongaat in the north, Assagay in the west to Illovo in the South, covering 16000 sq.kms.
Electricity is purchased form the GOvernment at 275,000V and distributed to more than 400,000 customers at voltages of between 132,000 and 230V. The following departments form Durban Metro ELectricity: Transmission, Southern Distribution, Northern Distribution, Central Distribution, Technical Services, Finance and Human Resources.
