The reserve is renowned as a first rate trout fishing area and day visitors may purchase a daily fishing licence. There are picnic sites, tennis and croquet and the walks through the aloes and proteas make a visit to this reserve a worthwhile experience.
For those not wishing to travel by foot, there are guided horse trails. Large game in the reserve include wildebeest, reedbuck and hartebeest. Accommodation is in a hutted camp with 6 rest huts, 5 bungalows and 2 cottages. There is a small hide.
