Cobham

The Drakensberg World Heritage Park (by Website Designers)

A mecca for hikers, the Cobham State Forest is an area of true wilderness with mountainous terrain interspersed with deep gorges forested with giant yellowoods. The birdlife is particularly plentiful with black and martial eagle, Cape vulture and bald ibis.

Other animals such as baboon and jackal may be encountered. There are lovely pools in the river. The area is extensive, stretching from Sani Pass in the South to Giants Castle and contains some little known mountaineering opportunities.

A small rustic camping site at Highmoor and four caves accommodate overnight hikers.
